Production
On 17 January 2019, it was reported that Ali was considering his next venture with Khan and Aaryan, a romantic film.[8] On 1 March 2019, it was confirmed that the pair has been teamed up in directorial venture of Ali and the filming is starting in Delhi.[9]
The of the film began in the second week of March 2019, with Aaryan shared a picture of Khan and him from sets. Khan also shared the picture on her social media account.[5][10] The first schedule of the film was wrapped on 25 March 2019. First look of the film was revealed on 20 March 2019 and release date was announced as 14 February 2020, coinciding with Valentine's Day.[5][14] On 16 January 2020, the official title revealed of the film by launch first look poster.[15][16][17]
The official trailer of the film was released on 17 January 2020 by Maddock Films.[18]

Love Aaj Kal earned ₹12.40 crore nett at the domestic box office on its opening day. On the second day, the film collected ₹8.01 crore. On the third day, the film collected ₹8.10 crore, taking total opening weekend collection to ₹28.51 crore.[2]
